Images blur,
sounds collide
Memories stick,
present fuzzy.

Just Re-Align
Moon rise to the sky
Stars join dark night
Gears race
rusted themselves.
One breaks,
crashes into another
Death threatens more,
coming closer every second.
Please just Re-Align
The film next slams back into movement,
images blue until they are just color,
In seconds it slows,
until it goes from frame to frame.

Another year later it slows to a halt,
skidding to a stop when the girl is five.
A year after that tragic night of the fire,
difference is beyond evident.
The girl no longer keeps that book at her side,
the pages no longer well worn.
She has forgotten the text,
forgotten that tongue.
No more cradle songs,
No more magic.
Life forgotten
Blood forgotten.
Destiny forgotten.
She follows that family as if law
believes in only what they believe.
No more whispered words,
no more foreign tongues.
They pushed it out
made her forget.

three years skip by,
the task is ignoring them.
The girl of eight sits in school,
one her birth family wouldn’t have chosen.
She strived for A’s to make them happy,
just another way to please those who took her in.
The family pounded the magic out,
yet they did not suppose there were other.
She met a gray-eyed boy who knew,
kew she wasn’t like the others.
He sensed it about her,
though hidden it was.
He used magic
made her remember.
Made everything Re-Align
She remembered it all,
remembered what she had forgotten.
The words came back,
use of magic returned.
She found another book,
Another copy to make well-worn.

Five years skipped by,
a gap until she was thirteen.
The film reel stopped at another tragic night,
something that caused large change.
A starless night
A moonless night
magic got out of control,
magic got warped.
One gray-eyed boy and one blue-eyed girl whispered words,
competing in magic skills
A slip of the tongue caused the bad turn,
set it into dangerous levels.
The fire got out of hand,
the fire got uncontrollable.
Only one got away,
only one alive till this day.
